Disbursements under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's Apna Ghar housing finance program reached PKR 104 billion through 17,697 loans as of October 30, 2026, according to Khurram Schehzad, adviser to the finance minister.
The program has received 220,715 applications, of which 90,405 have been approved, involving financing worth PKR 533 billion. The approval rate stood at approximately 41%, according to the November 5 update.
How much has housing financing increased since June?
Disbursements rose from around PKR 21 billion in June to PKR 104 billion by October 30, while the value of approved financing increased from approximately PKR 144 billion to PKR 533 billion. The two figures represent different stages of lending: approvals are commitments, while disbursements are funds already released.
Schehzad reported increases of 404% in disbursements and 269% in approved financing over that period. Those rates cannot be reproduced exactly from the rounded amounts he published.
What is the Apna Ghar program intended to achieve?
The government launched the initiative to expand access to affordable housing finance, promote homeownership and support economic activity in the construction sector.
Schehzad said the progress came approximately six months after the program's formal launch.
The Ministry of Finance acknowledged the contributions of the State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Banks' Association, participating commercial banks and the Ministry of Housing and Works in implementing the program.
