Pakistan’s exports of fish and other seafood products rose 74.4% in value during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, reaching USD 125.4 million, Maritime Affairs Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said.
Fish exports totaled 61,679 metric tons during the quarter, according to figures cited by the minister.
Chaudhry said the volume of fisheries exports has increased 74.8% over the past three years, reflecting growing demand for Pakistani seafood in international markets.
The fisheries sector earned USD 568 million in export revenues during FY26, he said.
How is Pakistan expanding seafood market access?
The minister identified the opening of the Russian market to Pakistani fisheries products as a major achievement for the sector. He said the government would also work to facilitate greater access to the European Union’s seafood market.
“Improving the global competitiveness of fisheries products will be essential,” Chaudhry said, stressing the need to strengthen the sector’s ability to compete in international markets.
The government’s efforts will focus on expanding market access and improving the competitiveness of Pakistani fish and seafood products, he said.
