Pakistan technology exports up 2% in April

Pakistan’s technology exports rose 2% year-over-year in April to $317 million, despite a 7% drop from the previous month, the latest State Bank of Pakistan data showed.

The dip in monthly performance reflects short-term market fluctuations, but the sector’s annual growth underscores continued global demand for the country’s IT and software services.

Technology exports accounted for 44% of Pakistan’s total services exports in April, highlighting the industry’s pivotal role in the national economy.

Experts attribute the year-over-year growth to strong international demand, evolving technology trends, and ongoing expansion in Pakistan’s freelance and startup ecosystems.

Officials said the government remains committed to supporting the IT sector, with ongoing discussions around tax incentives, workforce training, and better access to international markets.
