Stalwart top-order batsman Daryl Mitchell has declared himself fit to face India in New Zealand's final Champions Trophy group match after missing the win over Bangladesh on Monday because of illness.
The Black Caps and India are both unbeaten and already assured of a spot in the last four ahead of Sunday's Dubai clash, which will decide which side tops Group A and which teams they will meet in the semi-finals.
"Obviously disappointing to miss the last game with being a bit crook," Mitchell said. "It's nice to be back with the group now and get out of the hotel room and to be involved in training and looking forward to the next match.
"It's another game of cricket that I'm just really excited to represent our country in, and it should be good fun come Sunday."
Rachin Ravindra, who was returning from a concussion, replaced Mitchell in the batting order against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi and scored a sparkling 112 as the Black Caps booked their spot in the knockout rounds.
Coach Gary Stead is therefore presented with something of an embarrassment of riches in the batting department, even if he has suggested he might rest players carrying niggles for the India match.
For Mitchell, the fact that a variety of different batters were making decisive interventions in matches was a definite plus.
"Something that we pride ourselves on is that when the situation dictates, you do your job for the team," he said.
"I'm sure another set of hands will stick their hands up over the next few games and hopefully help us win games."
Captain Sharma OK after hamstring injury
India captain Rohit Sharma is fine after picking up a hamstring injury during last Sunday's win over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, Indian team assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said in Dubai.

Sharma, 37, briefly left the field after picking up an injury while fielding as Pakistan batted first. He later scored a quick 20 as India won by six wickets to reach the semi-finals.
"He's all right. It's an injury he's had before, so he knows how to manage it really well," Ten Doeschate told reporters on Friday.
Hamstring injuries had forced Sharma to miss the start of India's tour of Australia in 2020 and the entire tour of South Africa in 2021-22.
Short doubtful for semi-final
Australia's Matt Short looks set to miss the Champions Trophy semi-finals after suffering a thigh injury during Friday's abandoned Group B match against Afghanistan in Lahore.
Skipper Steve Smith said the opener, who suffered the quad injury while fielding but struggled on to make 20 runs from 15 balls before the game was washed out, was unlikely to be fit to face India or New Zealand on Tuesday or Wednesday.
"I think he'll be struggling," Smith said. "I think we saw tonight he wasn't moving very well. I think it's probably going to be too quick between games for him to recover."
Jake Fraser-McGurk would offer similar skills as a replacement for Short at the top of the batting order, while young spin-bowling all-rounder Cooper Connolly is Australia's travelling reserve.
"We've got a few guys there to come in to fill a job," Smith added.
A second abandoned game from three group matches assured Australia of a spot in the semi-finals but they will not know their opposition nor the venue for the match until after India face New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday.
