Oil marketing companies (OMC) sales increased to 25-month high in November on the back of higher demand amid decline in prices with notable growth in high speed diesel (HSD) and petrol sales.

According to data issued by Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC), overall petroleum products sales stood at 1.58 million tons in November, up 15% from last year. With this, the total sales during five months of this fiscal stood at 6.75 million tons, up 5% from the same period last year.

In addition to lower prices, higher HSD demand due to harvesting season, and curbs on smuggled petroleum from Iran lifted offtake.

Motor Spirit (petrol) sales volumes remained steady at 0.67 million tons compared to October, and 17% up from 0.57 million tons in November 2023. The cumulative sales for the first five months of FY25 increased by 6% to 3.18 million tons.

Meanwhile, HSD showed significant growth with a 15% sequential increase to 0.79 million tons and a 21% increase from 0.65 million tons in November 2023. The cumulative sales for 5MFY25 rose by 9% to 2.89 million tons.

Furnace oil experienced a decline, with sales volumes dropping to 0.04 million tons, 55% decrease from 0.08 million tons in November last year. The cumulative sales for 5MFY25 also declined by 37% to 0.31 million tons.

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) recorded a 15% sequential increase in total sales volumes to 0.80 million tons, with significant growth in HSD sales.

Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) witnessed a 4% increase in total sales volumes to 0.13 million tons compared with previous month, driven by rise in HSD sales.

Shell Pakistan (SHEL) saw a slight decrease in total sales volumes by 3% to 0.10 million tons.

Hascol Petroleum showed a 13% monthly decrease in MS sales to 0.02 million tons.
