RTO Hyderabad tax collection rises 18% to PKR 16.9bn in July-August

Tax collection by the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Hyderabad rose 18% to PKR 16.9 billion during the first two months of fiscal year 2026-27, up from PKR 14.3 billion in the same period last year, according to comparative collection data.

How much tax has RTO Hyderabad collected this fiscal year?

RTO Hyderabad, one of FBR's 18 Regional Tax Offices, collected PKR 16.9 billion in July and August of FY27 combined. August alone brought in PKR 9.55 billion, up 19% year over year, while July collections rose 17% to PKR 7.37 billion. Income tax remained the largest component of total receipts.

Which tax category grew the fastest?

Domestic sales tax recorded the sharpest increase among the major categories, surging 83% during July-August to PKR 3.54 billion from PKR 1.93 billion a year earlier. The growth was strongest in July, when collection more than doubled, rising 123% to PKR 1.29 billion from PKR 579 million. August also saw a 66% jump, to PKR 2.25 billion from PKR 1.36 billion.

Income tax, still the largest revenue source, grew more modestly. Collection rose 7% during July-August to PKR 10.87 billion from PKR 10.17 billion. August income tax receipts increased 13% to PKR 6.21 billion, while July collection stayed roughly flat at PKR 4.66 billion.

How did other tax categories perform?

Sales tax collected on imports rose 10% during July-August to PKR 2.04 billion from PKR 1.85 billion. The monthly pattern was mixed: import sales tax jumped 34% in July to PKR 1.16 billion, then fell 10% in August to PKR 885 million from PKR 984 million a year earlier.

Federal excise duty (FED) collection grew 37% during the two-month period to PKR 479 million from PKR 350 million. FED receipts rose 33% in July to PKR 268 million and 42% in August to PKR 211 million from PKR 149 million.

Stronger domestic sales tax and federal excise duty collections were the main drivers behind the overall rise in RTO Hyderabad's tax receipts during the period. The figures cover July and August only, with data for the rest of FY2026-27 not yet included in the comparative table. All amounts are reported in millions of Pakistani rupees.
