Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Kristalina Georgieva on Monday ahead of the World Governments Summit.
The event, running from Feb. 11-13 under the theme Shaping Future Governments, is being held in Dubai.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Defense Minister Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, according to Emirati news agency WAM.
Discussions focused on global economic developments and opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the U.A.E. and the IMF to promote economic stability and sustainable development.
Sheikh Mohammed underscored the importance of international collaboration in tackling economic challenges and fostering innovation to build a resilient global economy. He praised the IMF's role in shaping financial policies that drive stability and growth and reaffirmed the U.A.E.’s commitment to adopting forward-thinking policies that align with global economic shifts.
Georgieva acknowledged the U.A.E.’s contributions to global financial stability and expressed optimism for continued collaboration. She lauded the World Governments Summit as a critical platform for fostering international dialogue and shaping the future economy.
The 12th edition of the summit features record participation, with over 30 heads of state and government, 80 international and regional organizations, 140 government delegations, and more than 300 speakers. The agenda includes 21 global forums, 200 interactive sessions, 30 ministerial meetings, and 30 strategic reports produced in collaboration with international partners.
