In Yemen on Saturday, the Saudi-led military coalition launched a large-scale operation that destroyed 136 Houthi military targets to counter recent cross-border missile attacks. The military campaign supports Yemen's internationally recognized government after regional clashes reignited in July and expanded across the border into Saudi Arabia.

Outcome of Saudi-led coalition's military operation

The Saudi-led coalition destroyed 136 Houthi military targets during a large-scale operation designed to weaken the Iran-backed group's personnel and tactical capabilities across Yemen. The military strikes targeted key defensive and offensive assets in response to escalating drone and missile attacks directed at strategic civilian infrastructure inside Saudi Arabia.

Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi coalition, confirmed the expanded military campaign through posts published on X. He stated that coalition forces successfully dismantled critical military capabilities belonging to the Houthi militia during the continuous operation.

Concurrently, the Houthi-controlled Almasirah TV channel reported that Saudi missile strikes hit multiple locations within the northwestern Yemeni governorate of Saada. Houthi media outlets also reported two deaths following Saudi aerial strikes near the airport in Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

The conflict reignited in July when Houthi forces launched cross-border attacks targeting transport hubs, energy infrastructure, and civilian sites across Saudi Arabia. In response, Saudi Arabia and Yemeni government forces initiated a counter-offensive to protect global shipping lanes along the crucial Bab al-Mandab strait.

Recent violence escalated significantly after Houthi strikes hit Riyadh international airport, resulting in three reported civilian casualties on Thursday. Saudi Arabia, the world's largest exporter of crude oil, continues providing round-the-clock air support to bolster Yemeni government troops and reclaim lost territory along the Red Sea coast.
