Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu has welcomed the establishment of a regional office in Karachi by U.S.-based technology company MOBIZ, saying Pakistan has significant potential to emerge as a regional hub for information technology services, digital solutions and global technology delivery.
MOBIZ, a Pakistani-owned technology company based in Silicon Valley, has established its Pakistan regional office at the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP) in Karachi.
In a message marking the expansion, Sidhu said Pakistan's economic competitiveness would increasingly depend on its ability to embrace digitalization, innovation and technology-led business models.
"With a large and growing pool of young technology professionals, Pakistan has the potential to emerge as an important regional hub for IT services, digital solutions and global technology delivery," Sidhu said.
MOBIZ provides services across cloud computing, data, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in various countries. The company has more than 170 professionals operating across four continents, according to the SECP chairman's message.
Sidhu said the expansion of global technology companies in Pakistan reflected growing confidence in the country's technology talent and ecosystem.
"Pakistan's young population and expanding technology talent provide a strong foundation for this transformation," he said, adding that creating quality employment and connecting Pakistani professionals with global markets would be critical to turning the country's demographic strength into sustainable economic growth.
The SECP chairman said the regulator was working to create a transparent, efficient and technology-enabled regulatory environment to support businesses, investment and innovation.
He said the SECP was simplifying and modernizing regulatory frameworks across the corporate sector, capital markets, insurance, nonbank financial services and corporate debt markets, while aligning them with international standards and emerging business needs.
"Digitalization remains central to this transformation," Sidhu said, adding that technology could reduce the time and cost of doing business, improve transparency and compliance, facilitate investment and enable companies to scale more efficiently.
He said the SECP's objective was to make regulatory interactions increasingly digital, seamless and business-friendly, while maintaining strong standards of governance and investor protection.
Sidhu congratulated MOBIZ and its leadership on the opening of the Karachi office and expressed hope that the company would continue expanding its presence in Pakistan.
