Sharjah forms committee to combat residential violations

Sharjah has formed a new committee to combat residential violations and random housing practices across the emirate, Khaleej Times reported. The Sharjah Executive Council issued the decision on Tuesday, chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi. The panel will unify inspections to ensure landlords and tenants follow housing regulations.

What will the committee do?

The committee will unify monitoring and inspection procedures across Sharjah's cities. It will also strengthen coordination among the government entities responsible for housing and related services.

Its duties include monitoring the condition and use of properties and residential units. It will also make sure landlords and tenants meet the applicable requirements and regulations.

What else did the Sharjah Executive Council discuss?

During the meeting, the council reviewed the launch of the fifth season of Sharjah Safari. The park is home to more than 120 animal species and over 50,000 animals.

Officials reviewed efforts to improve tours, interactive activities, visitor services and seasonal events. They also discussed employing Emirati staff from the local community to guide visitors and share information about the animals and their habitats.

The council was also briefed on the safari's breeding program, which has recorded more than 150 new births, including rare species. The program is part of wider efforts to protect wildlife, preserve natural habitats and promote biodiversity and environmental awareness in the emirate.
