Billions lost, wheat rotting and still, more loans.
According to the latest Global Hunger Index, 16.5% of Pakistan’s population, 41.5 million people, face severe hunger, while millions of wheat bags rot in Sindh’s warehouses.
The province has already lost PKR 203 billion, fallen PKR 176 billion in debt, and yet plans to borrow another PKR 105 billion for new wheat. Experts question the credibility of the government’s verification, calling for a third-party audit to uncover how much wheat truly went bad, and how much simply went missing.
In this investigative report, Nukta’s Special Correspondent Akhtiar Khokhar examines the cost of corruption, mismanagement, and a failed policy that’s deepened Sindh’s food and financial crisis.
