Sharjah National Oil Corporation has completed Phase 1 of the Hedebah Gas-Condensate Field, more than doubling its gas production.
WAM
Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) has more than doubled its gas production after completing Phase 1 of the Hedebah Gas-Condensate Field in Sharjah, the company announced Tuesday, Oct. 27. Khaleej Times reported the milestone. SNOC says it will strengthen the emirate’s long-term energy security.
How much has SNOC increased Sharjah’s gas production?
SNOC says its current gas production has more than doubled. The increase follows the completion of Phase 1 at Hedebah, which delivered first gas within a year of discovery. SNOC has started preparing the next stage, with production set to ramp up during 2027 and reach plateau output by 2028.
Where is the Hedebah gas field and when was it discovered?
Hedebah was discovered in May 2024 northeast of the Sajaa gas field. It is the fifth onshore field in Sharjah. The others are Al-Sajaa, Kahif, Mahani and Muayed.
The Sharjah Petroleum Council announced the discovery in 2024. It said the gas was found in promising economic quantities after SNOC drilled a well.
How did SNOC bring Hedebah into production so quickly?
SNOC reached first gas less than a year after the discovery. It has now met all key Phase 1 objectives. These include appraisal drilling, well evaluation, gathering infrastructure, pipeline installation and commissioning.
The company did this despite logistical and procurement challenges. These included regional shipping disruptions and material supply constraints.
What did SNOC executives say about the project?
CEO Khamis Al Mazrouei said the project shows SNOC can move quickly from discovery to delivery while supporting the emirate’s growing energy needs. He described Hedebah as one of the most significant gas developments in Sharjah in recent years. He also called it a cornerstone of SNOC’s long-term growth strategy.
Masoud Al Hamadi, SNOC’s executive director of upstream, said appraisal results confirmed strong reservoir quality and favorable pressure characteristics. He added that production performance across the field has been encouraging.
What did the Hedebah-02 well find?
In November 2025, SNOC announced that drilling and testing of a second well, Hedebah-02, had succeeded. The well, north of the Sajaa field, revealed additional gas reservoirs. It was drilled to a total depth of 13,200 feet.
The well is part of SNOC’s evaluation and development work in the onshore Hedebah field.
What does Hedebah mean for Sharjah gas production?
SNOC is speeding up activities to ramp up production during 2027. The field is expected to reach plateau production by 2028.
SNOC said Hedebah will make a substantial contribution to meeting future energy demand across the emirate.
