The United Arab Emirates has strongly denounced an Israeli proposal to transfer oversight of the historic Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron from Palestinian authorities to a Jewish religious council in the Kiryat Arba settlement, calling it a serious breach of international norms and the site’s longstanding status quo, WAM reported.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Israel to immediately halt any unilateral actions that could provoke tensions and further destabilize the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ministry warned such moves undermine international peace efforts and threaten to derail progress toward a two-state solution.

Reaffirming its support for the preservation of Islamic and Christian holy sites, the UAE called on the international community to act swiftly to protect the religious and historical identity of sacred landmarks in the region.

The UAE also reiterated the importance of coordinated international and regional efforts to revive the Middle East peace process and end practices that inflame tensions and violate international law.
