The United Arab Emirates said Algeria’s notification to terminate an air services agreement between the two countries will not have any immediate impact on flight operations, state news agency WAM reported.

The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority said the notification from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria falls within mechanisms stipulated under international agreement frameworks and does not affect air traffic operations in the short term, according to WAM.

The authority said the agreement remains in force during the legally mandated notice period and that flights between the two countries will continue as normal.

The GCAA said it is coordinating with relevant entities through official channels and is handling the matter in line with established legal and diplomatic frameworks.

On Saturday, Algeria said it had begun the process of canceling its air services agreement with the UAE, which was signed in Abu Dhabi in 2013.

The GCAA said the agreement with Algeria remains in force during the notice period but did not provide further details.
