The United Arab Emirates and Scotland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral investment ties and promote mutual investment flows.
The agreement, signed by Mohammad Abdulrahman Alhawi, Under-Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Investment, and Scotland’s Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes, establishes a framework for cooperation between government bodies, investment agencies, business associations, and private sector stakeholders in both countries, according to WAM.
Under the MoU, the UAE and Scotland will share information on investment policies, identify opportunities across key sectors, and facilitate partnerships and joint ventures, including collaboration between small and medium-sized enterprises.
The agreement also emphasizes business engagement through forums, exhibitions, investment missions, and networking events, building on initiatives such as Investopia Global.
The MoU aims to support sustainable economic growth, diversification, and long-term prosperity by encouraging capital, technology, and knowledge exchange, as well as human capital development through training and technical cooperation.
Alhawi said the agreement “reinforces the Ministry of Investment’s commitment to building lasting partnerships with leading global economies” and highlighted its role in translating dialogue into tangible investment opportunities.
Forbes noted that the MoU “lays the groundwork for more diverse and future-focused economic ties,” enabling businesses in both countries to explore new opportunities and strengthen collaboration.
Implementation of the MoU will be overseen by designated focal points in both countries, coordinating activities and work plans to advance the agreement’s objectives.
