The University of Sharjah continued its run of local and global achievements with strong results in the Times Higher Education subject rankings for 2026, according to the WAM news agency.

The rankings placed the University of Sharjah at the top among UAE institutions across four key fields.

According to the latest results, the university maintained its leading local position in social sciences and was ranked in the 201–250 band globally in that field.

The result marked a significant improvement from its previous world ranking in social sciences. The university also dominated arts and humanities domestically for a second consecutive year. In that discipline, it was placed among the world’s top 301–400 universities.

Another notable achievement came in the field of law. The university secured first place locally and ranked in the 176–200 band globally in its debut participation in the subject rankings.

The result reflected qualitative improvements in the research output and academic programs of the College of Law, according to the rankings.

The University of Sharjah also topped UAE institutions in physical sciences. Globally, it was placed among the top 201–250 universities in that field. In health and medical sciences, the university ranked second locally. It was placed in the 201–250 band worldwide, marking an advance compared with last year’s performance.

At the same time, the University of Sharjah maintained its global position in the 201–250 band for business and economics. It also held the same global ranking range in education studies.

Commenting on the results, University of Sharjah Chancellor Prof Esameldin Agamy said the achievements reflected an ambitious strategic vision.

He said the vision is based on a holistic academic approach that prioritizes quality and innovation.

Agamy said the strategy was set by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah.

“Securing the top position locally in strategic disciplines such as law, social sciences, physical sciences, and arts and humanities, in addition to our strong entry into the global top 200 in some fields, amounts to far more than mere numbers,” Agamy said.

He said the results reflect a steadfast commitment to research quality and strengthening the university’s academic ecosystem.

“We do not compete simply to lead, but to deliver education that meets the world’s highest standards,” he said.

Agamy added that the university aims to build societal trust in its graduates and their ability to shape the future.

He said the institution will continue investing in scientific research, academic programs and international partnerships.

The goal, he said, is to cement the University of Sharjah’s status as a benchmark institution at the regional and global levels.
