World Bank’s experts have halted work on the $256 million K-IV Augmentation project, a major initiative of the Sindh government meant to improve Karachi’s water supply.

Experts have declared the construction work substandard, unsafe, and non-compliant with technical specifications, leading to an immediate halt of works.

According to official reports, significant flaws were found in pipeline welding, coating quality, installation methods, and safety procedures.

The World Bank team has even demanded that portions of the already laid pipeline be removed and reinstalled according to proper engineering standards.

The consultant firm responsible for project supervision has been issued a show-cause notice by KWSSIP over alleged failure to ensure proper monitoring and quality control.

Will the K-IV Augmentation Project be fixed or is Karachi’s water future at risk?

This investigative report of Nukta’s Special Correspondent, Akhtiar Khokhar, uncovers the truth behind one of Karachi’s most critical infrastructure failures.
