The Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) has launched the Awqaf Abu Dhabi Community Centre, the first major project under its Life Endowment campaign to fund healthcare for chronic disease patients, WAM reported.

The campaign, launched in partnership with the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi, is themed With You For Life. It aims to provide long-term support for patients unable to afford treatment and to improve the sustainability of healthcare services.

The AED50 million community center will be built in Abu Dhabi City. It will combine shopping, entertainment, and cultural offerings while promoting Emirati identity and serving both residents and tourists.

Awqaf Abu Dhabi said the center would use previously unused land and generate revenue for endowment funds. It also aims to create job opportunities, support the local economy, and raise awareness of charitable giving.

“The launch of the Life Endowment campaign establishes a vital model for sustainably supporting those with chronic diseases who cannot afford treatment and ensuring continued access to healthcare services,” said Abdulhamid Mohammed Saeed, Chairman of Awqaf Abu Dhabi.

He said investing endowment funds in high-return projects like the community center would benefit and empower the wider community.

“The center will not only generate returns for the endowment fund but also deliver significant community benefits,” Saeed said. He highlighted its role in promoting social engagement and economic development.

The campaign is part of the UAE’s Year of the Community and reflects the country’s focus on humanitarian values and social responsibility.

Saeed urged public participation, stating, “We are committed to achieving the campaign’s goals… and encourage everyone to actively participate to support those with chronic diseases.”

The campaign also plans to build an endowment fund to cover treatment costs, supply medications, and improve access to mental health services. Officials say it will help the healthcare system prepare for future challenges while sustaining charitable resources.
