The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has announced a $120 million investment in a luxury hotel project in Egypt, marking its latest strategic expansion in the country’s tourism sector. The Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza, a five-star hotel near Egypt’s historic landmarks, is set to enhance the country's hospitality industry and attract international visitors, according to ADFD.

Project details and investment structure

The hotel will feature 302 rooms, state-of-the-art facilities, and a selection of international restaurants and entertainment spaces. The project is being financed through a UAE-Egypt private sector partnership, with ADFD contributing 84.28% of the capital through the Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company (ADTIC), according to ADFD.

The remaining equity will be held by Abu Dhabi National Hotels (10.22%), Overseas Tourism Investment Company (0.4%), Misr Hotels Company (2.73%), and the Egyptian General Company for Tourism & Hotels (2.37%).

The hotel will be managed by Accor Group, an international hospitality company, to ensure global service standards, according to ADFD.

Economic and tourism impact

ADFD Director General Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi stated that the investment aligns with the fund’s goal of supporting sustainable development and economic growth in partner countries. The project is expected to boost Egypt’s tourism sector, create investment opportunities, and strengthen the country’s position as a global tourist destination, according to ADFD.

Governor of Giza, Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, highlighted the project as a model for successful UAE-Egypt investment collaboration, emphasizing its role in supporting sustainable development initiatives.

Located near Egypt’s iconic landmarks, the Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza aims to blend modern luxury with Egypt’s cultural heritage, contributing to the country’s long-term tourism growth strategy.
