Why were Amir's IPL plans making headlines?
The clarification followed a report by Cricbuzz suggesting that Amir was expected to register for the IPL 2027 auction after submitting his name for the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) draft as a British national.
The left-arm pacer, who holds British citizenship, was picked by Kandahar Warriors in the Platinum overseas category during the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) draft held in Dubai on November 3.
Could Amir have followed Azhar Mahmood's footsteps?
Amir's British passport had fueled speculation that he could become another former Pakistan international to feature in the IPL using foreign nationality.
Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood previously represented Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders between 2012 and 2015.
No Pakistani player has participated in the IPL since the tournament's inaugural edition in 2008.
