Renowned Syrian actor and director Assaad Feddah has been named the recipient of the prestigious Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity.
The award, given under the patronage of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to Arab theater.
It reflects Sharjah's commitment to enriching the cultural and artistic heritage of the Arab world while honoring those who have significantly impacted the preservation and development of theatrical traditions.

As a director, Feddah has pushed the boundaries of storytelling, tackling critical social issues and challenging societal norms. His work bridges tradition and modernity, ensuring Arab theater remains relevant and vibrant.
History of the Sharjah Award
The Sharjah Award for Arab Theatrical Creativity was established in 2007 as part of the Sharjah Theatrical Days festival. It annually honors pioneers in Arab theater.
Past recipients include Egyptian artist Saad Ardash, Lebanese actress Nidal Al Ashkar, and Syrian legend Duraid Lahham.
Feddah's Celebrated Works
Feddah has contributed more than 25 iconic plays and numerous television dramas, leaving an indelible mark on Arab culture.
His notable theatrical productions include:
- The Brothers Karamazov (1964)
- The Chief of Hypocrites (1963)
