Noted educationist and former Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairman Dr Attaur Rehman has said that the next 10, 15, or 20 years will completely change civilization. He urged Pakistan to prepare for the change.
“A massive change is coming in quantum computing, which is millions of times faster than normal computers,” he said during a podcast with CEO and founder Nukta, Kamran Khan.
“Calculations that would take a supercomputer 20 billion years can be done by a quantum computer in a millisecond. The next 10, 15, or 20 years will completely change civilization, and we must prepare our children for that. Quantum computers can even predict your lifespan, estimating how long you’ll live if you continue eating the way you do."
Speaking of the ills plaguing the country, the former HEC chairman stated that if the president in Pakistan were elected and the parliament's role was limited to lawmaking, corruption would end.
“Funds should go to local bodies instead of parliamentarians so they can be used where they are needed,” he added.
He further said that the ministers and bureaucrats should be top technocrats to steer the country towards a knowledge-based economy.
