Dubai Holding and RTA sign AED 6 billion deal to improve transport and mobility

Dubai Holding and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have signed a AED 6 billion ($1.6 billion) agreement to enhance Dubai’s road and transport infrastructure, supporting urban expansion and improving mobility across the emirate.
The agreement, witnessed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Holding, aims to reduce travel times, increase road capacity, and improve accessibility to key development areas.

The partnership will upgrade infrastructure in major communities, including Dubai Islands, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Palm Gateway, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Park, and Business Bay. The enhancements focus on expanding roads, constructing bridges, and improving pedestrian accessibility.
Major improvements across Dubai
- Jumeirah Village Circle: Four new access points will be developed, doubling entry and exit capacity and reducing travel time by 70%.
- Dubai Production City: New bridges from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will cut travel time by 50%.
- Business Bay: Intersection upgrades with Sheikh Zayed Road and a new pedestrian bridge at First Al Khail Road will enhance traffic flow and safety.
- Palm Jumeirah: Six additional acceleration and deceleration lanes, along with two new pedestrian bridges, will reduce travel time by 40%.
- International City (Phase 3): Road expansion and intersection upgrades will reduce travel time from 15 minutes to 5 minutes.
According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA, these projects will increase entry and exit capacity by 30-70%, ensuring smoother mobility for residents and visitors. Amit Kaushal, Group CEO of Dubai Holding, emphasized that these upgrades align with Dubai Holding’s vision of creating sustainable, well-connected communities that improve quality of life.
This strategic partnership reinforces Dubai’s position as a global hub for urban innovation and smart mobility, paving the way for a more accessible and efficient city.
