Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has opened the emirate's first AI-powered smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates, introducing round-the-clock digital services and automated systems to one of the city's busiest transit points.

The 147-square-metre facility connects directly to the metro station and serves 11 bus routes across key residential, commercial, and tourist destinations. The launch was reported by Khaleej Times on Sunday.

What makes Dubai's new smart bus station different from a traditional bus station?

Unlike conventional stations, the Mall of the Emirates hub is fully digitised and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Passengers can access journey planning, customer support, lost-and-found services, and direct connections to RTA call centres through interactive kiosks, without requiring staff on site.

Real-time digital screens display bus and metro arrival times, taxi availability, station maps, and nearby points of interest.

What AI and smart technology features does the station include?

AI-enabled cameras have been installed for crowd management and violation detection, providing continuous safety monitoring across the facility. A separate live feed displays bus occupancy levels, helping passengers make informed travel decisions and allowing the RTA to manage passenger flow more effectively.

The station also features ticketing and Nol card top-up machines, a smart vending unit with loyalty rewards, air-quality monitoring sensors, and solar-powered energy systems.

Which areas does the Mall of the Emirates smart bus station serve?

The station operates 11 bus routes connecting Al Barsha, Jumeirah Village Circle, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Science Park, Dubai Studio City, Dubai Miracle Garden, and Global Village.

Its direct link to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station makes it a multimodal interchange, integrating bus, metro, and taxi services in a single location. The RTA has positioned the station as a model for modernizing public transport infrastructure across Dubai.
