The Pakistan government has convened a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Wednesday with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb scheduled to chair the session, officials said.
The ECC is expected to review an 11-point agenda that includes several key approvals. According to official documents, the committee will consider a summary regarding the electricity purchase agreement with Iran. Approval of the circular debt management plan for the 2025-26 fiscal year is also likely.
The Petroleum Division is set to present a proposal seeking a revision — and possible increase — in margins for oil marketing companies and fuel dealers. The committee is also expected to approve a technical supplementary grant of PKR 1.28 billion for the Pakistan Digital Authority.
A summary from the Commerce Division, submitted to ensure compliance with a Lahore High Court order, will also come under discussion. The agenda further includes deliberations on the proposed ban on chloroform imports.
The ECC may approve amendments to procedures governing vehicle imports under the gift scheme. The committee will also review a Commerce Division summary related to the scheme.
Matters related to the release or surrender of development funds under the Cabinet Division will be considered, along with a proposal for a PKR 5billion technical supplementary grant to support housing sector subsidies.
The agenda additionally features a summary concerning the dissolution of PASSCO and the provision of a special vehicle for the Wheat Stock Management Company. Budget releases for the PIA Holding Company will also be taken up during the meeting.
