Emirates has signed an agreement with Airbus to implement Skywise Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+).

The system will optimize fleet reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance data-driven decision-making.

Emirates Engineering teams will monitor real-time aircraft performance and proactively plan maintenance.

As part of its commitment to operational excellence and safety, Emirates has signed an agreement with Airbus to implement Skywise Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+), an advanced predictive maintenance and fleet health monitoring system, alongside the Core X3 analytics platform, according to a press release from Emirates.

This strategic move will optimize fleet reliability, reduce downtime and enhance data-driven decision-making for the airline’s Airbus A380 and A350 aircraft.

The agreement was signed by Ahmed Safa, head of Emirates Engineering, and Laurent Negre, vice president of customer services, Airbus Africa and Middle East, marking a significant step toward modernizing Emirates’ fleet management.

Transforming Fleet Maintenance With AI-Powered Analytics

The integration of Skywise Fleet Performance+ is expected to improve aircraft dispatch reliability by enabling Emirates Engineering teams to monitor real-time aircraft performance, detect potential inflight issues and proactively plan maintenance during turnarounds. The system also features automated pre-departure monitoring of key aircraft systems, including cabin temperature, avionics and operations performance, ensuring smoother, more reliable flights.

Safa emphasized the airline’s commitment to leveraging technology to optimize efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.

“As a highly efficient, customer-centric operation, Emirates is always looking at ways to leverage leading-edge technologies that improve operational reliability and punctuality, minimize unscheduled downtime and ensure our fleet operates at the highest standards, ultimately elevating the customer experience,” Safa said. “Adopting Airbus’ Skywise Fleet Performance+ is a step forward in transforming traditional maintenance activities into precision-led processes that maximize fleet efficiency.”

Negre echoed this sentiment, stating that the new predictive analytics tools will reinforce Emirates’ commitment to operational excellence.

“We are proud to strengthen our collaboration with Emirates through the implementation of Skywise Fleet Performance+ and Core X3,” Negre said. “These solutions will enhance fleet performance and reliability, reduce downtime and support operational efficiency—benefiting passengers as well.”

Advancing Predictive Maintenance With Data-Driven Solutions

The Skywise platform integrates Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) data for critical aircraft diagnostics, providing real-time alerts and predictive solutions. Meanwhile, the Core X3 analytics platform will enable Emirates Engineering to manage vast amounts of data, consolidating multiple systems into a single-source interface that improves decision-making across operational teams.

Emirates Engineering has long been at the forefront of aviation analytics and digital innovation, using predictive maintenance to maximize fleet availability and reduce operational costs. The airline is also exploring drone-assisted aircraft inspections and evaluating virtual and augmented reality for maintenance tasks.

Expanding Engineering Capabilities for the Future

Emirates’ investment in advanced fleet management solutions is part of a broader strategy to enhance its engineering and maintenance capabilities. The airline operates one of the world’s most technologically advanced aircraft maintenance facilities, supporting the largest fleet of Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft.

In 2023, Emirates announced a $950 million investment to build a state-of-the-art engineering complex at Dubai World Central (DWC). Spanning 1 million square meters, the facility will be the largest and most advanced of its kind, supporting Emirates’ operations well into the 2040s.

By embracing AI-driven predictive maintenance and cutting-edge engineering solutions, Emirates is reinforcing its position as a leader in global aviation, ensuring its fleet remains among the most reliable, efficient and technologically advanced in the industry.
