Rashid Ghanem Al Shamsi, an Emirati mountaineer, has successfully raised the UAE flag atop Mount Elbrus, Europe’s highest peak, standing at 5,642 meters above sea level, WAM reported.
The ascent, which took him through fierce snowstorms and biting winds in Russia’s Caucasus mountains, tested both physical stamina and mental fortitude.
Despite sub-zero temperatures and treacherous terrain, Al Shamsi reached the summit, showing remarkable resilience and determination.
Reflecting on his achievement, he said, “I dedicate this milestone to the UAE and to all who believe that perseverance can turn the impossible into reality. This climb is a tribute not just to reaching a geographic peak, but to the peak of human determination and courage.”
Mount Elbrus, part of the prestigious Seven Summits, is widely regarded as one of the world’s most challenging climbs due to its extreme altitude, unpredictable weather, and demanding route.
Al Shamsi’s success highlights the growing presence of Emirati adventurers on the global stage and sends an inspiring message about the spirit, ambition, and courage of the UAE’s youth.
