Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial has directed tax officials to hold regular one-on-one meetings with industry representatives and accelerate the resolution of outstanding issues faced by Pakistan’s business community.
Langrial issued the instructions during meetings with delegations from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), according to an FBR press release.
Acting on the prime minister’s directives, the FBR’s senior leadership will remain in Karachi throughout the week to address concerns raised by the business and industrial sectors, the statement said.
During the meetings, Langrial reviewed progress on decisions taken during his previous visits to Karachi and instructed chief commissioners and chief collectors to expedite work on pending matters.
Representatives of the trade bodies raised additional issues requiring resolution. They also expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and appreciated the FBR leadership’s engagement with the business community.
Langrial briefed participants on modernization reforms underway at the tax authority and their expected impact on service delivery. He said feedback from businesses could help reshape the FBR’s operations and improve its performance.
The directive is aimed at establishing regular communication between tax officials and industry representatives, improving coordination and ensuring the timely resolution of outstanding business-related matters.
