Jebel Jais experienced frost formations Friday morning as Ras Al Khaimah recorded the coldest weather in the UAE this winter.

The National Center of Meteorology shared videos showing ice on the ground and a parked car in the area. Temperatures across the country dipped to as low as 2.2 degrees Celsius.

Jebel Jais, part of the Hajar Mountains in Ras Al Khaimah, is the UAE’s highest peak, standing 1,934 meters above sea level. The mountain is a popular destination for adrenaline enthusiasts, offering activities such as sledding, mountain biking, and the Jais Flight, the world’s longest zipline.

UAE residents also woke up to rain, with reports of lightning and thunder in some areas. Police in several emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, issued alerts urging motorists to drive safely amid the inclement weather.
