Gaddafi Stadium ready to shine for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The capacity of the stadium has been increased from 21,000 to 34,000 ahead of the elite eight-nation tournament
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is almost ready following a major transformation ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy, set to begin on February 19.
The old steel fences, which used to separate fans from the action, have been replaced by a dry moat that ensures safety while maintaining unobstructed views.
Furthermore, new seating, imported from China, has been installed across almost all enclosures, providing greater comfort for fans.
The stadium’s floodlighting system has also been modernized, with each of the six towers now equipped with advanced LED lights.
With an increased seating capacity from 21,000 to 34,000, spectators can look forward to a more immersive experience.
This renovation is the stadium's most significant upgrade since the 1996 World Cup, the last time Pakistan hosted an ICC event.
The venue is set to stage at least four matches during the tournament, including the highly anticipated second semi-final on March 5.
The stadium will also host the final, scheduled for March 9, if India fails to qualify for it.
