Plans include local assembly and battery-swapping infrastructure

Global e-mobility manufacturer Horwin has launched its electric two-wheeler lineup in Pakistan, as rising fuel costs and urban air pollution have created demand for alternative transportation solutions. The company introduced four electric scooter and motorcycle models at a June 3 event in Lahore.

The launch represents Horwin's entry into Pakistan's emerging electric vehicle market through a partnership with Charged Vehicles Pvt Ltd, a Lahore-based company approved by Pakistan's Engineering Development Board. Horwin currently operates in more than 40 countries across Europe, America and Asia.

The Pakistani product range includes the EK1 and SK1 urban scooters, designed for city commuting with removable lithium-ion batteries and LED lighting systems. The company also introduced the CR1 and QBB5 electric motorcycles, which target consumers seeking traditional motorcycle performance without gasoline engines.

"Each model offers zero-emission mobility, lower operating costs, and the latest in two-wheeler technology," according to the company's launch materials.

Horwin's electric vehicles feature smart displays and are positioned as alternatives to conventional motorcycles and scooters, which dominate Pakistan's two-wheeler market. The company's products address both environmental concerns and economic pressures from fluctuating fuel prices.

Charged Vehicles and Horwin are seeking distribution and retail partners across Pakistan to expand market access. The companies have announced plans for local assembly operations, battery-swapping infrastructure, and after-sales service networks.

The electric two-wheelers target applications ranging from daily urban commuting to last-mile delivery services, a growing sector in Pakistan's expanding e-commerce market.

The launch aligns with Pakistan's National Electric Vehicle Policy, which aims to electrify 30 percent of all vehicles by 2030. Pakistani cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, face significant air quality challenges, with transportation contributing to urban pollution levels.
