Imran Khan's sister challenges Pakistan cybercrime agency notice, seeks details of allegations

Noreen Niazi, the sister of jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, challenged a notice from the country's National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency on Monday, demanding details of the allegations against her.

Her legal team submitted a written response at the NCCIA's Islamabad office after the agency summoned her over an ongoing cybercrime investigation.

In her written response, Niazi said the notice failed to specify the allegations against her or cite the legal provisions under which it was issued.

She asked the agency to provide a copy of the complaint, details of the accusations and the relevant sections of law governing the inquiry.

Niazi's lawyers, including Faisal Malik and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, appeared at the NCCIA office in Islamabad to file the reply on her behalf.

Niazi denied the allegations, describing them as baseless, and said she remained willing to cooperate with the investigation in accordance with the law. She added that she reserved all of her constitutional and legal rights.

Speaking to reporters outside the NCCIA office, Malik said Niazi became aware of the notice through social media and that it had reportedly been sent to an incorrect address. He said the legal team had sought clarification on the legal grounds for the summons and requested a copy of the complaint.

The agency had directed Niazi to appear on Monday, but her lawyers requested a four week extension because she is currently abroad and unable to return immediately.

Malik added that Niazi respects Pakistan's state institutions and is seeking to ensure that due legal process is followed during the inquiry.
