Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin next week at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kyrgyzstan, Iranian state media reported.
The meeting was confirmed by Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali. It comes as Tehran and Moscow continue to deepen ties.
Why are Iran and Russia's presidents meeting in Kyrgyzstan?
Pezeshkian is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kyrgyzstan, where he is expected to hold his sixth meeting with Putin. Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, confirmed the meeting to state news agency IRNA. The summit takes place in Bishkek next Tuesday.
The meeting comes as Iran continues to navigate its standoff with the United States, which has persisted since February 28.
