A Rs1.5 billion project is being built inside a Karachi canal, raising concerns among residents that it could worsen urban flooding.

The Sindh government says the revised Nehr-e-Khayyam project will improve drainage. However, residents and experts fear it could narrow the water channel, worsen sewage pollution and open public land to commercial use.

Nukta Special Correspondent Akhtiar Khokhar examines the project on the ground, investigating concerns over encroachments, drainage and a NAB reference against former SBCA chief Manzoor Qadir Kaka, which remains under trial.
