According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir was warmly received on arrival, reflecting the historic ties between Pakistan and Turkey. His meetings with Erdogan and Guler focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, and ways to enhance bilateral strategic cooperation in an evolving geopolitical environment.
What medal did Asim Munir receive in Turkey?
At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, Field Marshal Munir was accorded a Guard of Honor before holding detailed talks with General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, Chief of the Turkish General Staff. The two military leaders exchanged views on regional security dynamics and professional military cooperation.
In recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral military relations, General Bayraktaroglu conferred the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal on Field Marshal Munir.
What else did Asim Munir do during the visit?
The Field Marshal also visited the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, where he met General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, to discuss professional and defense-related matters. He later paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of modern Turkey, by laying a floral wreath at Anıtkabir, the national mausoleum in Ankara.
The ISPR said the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Turkey to expand their defense partnership and continue working together to promote regional peace, security and stability.
