NEOM's luxury island destination Sindalah officially unveiled
Sindalah, NEOM’s luxury island destination, opens as a new gateway to the Red Sea, showcasing high-end hospitality and recreational experiences.
The NEOM Board of Directors has announced the official opening of Sindalah, a luxury island destination and NEOM's first physical showcase, according to a press release.
Originally introduced by His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Chairman of the NEOM Board of Directors, in December 2022, the unveiling of Sindalah represents a major development milestone for NEOM.
The creation of Sindalah involved a comprehensive two-year effort, engaging a peak workforce of 30,000 and numerous local contractors and subcontractors. The opening reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to expanding its tourism sector under the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, showcasing NEOM’s capacity to deliver large-scale, high-end destinations.
To mark the occasion, Sindalah has hosted its initial guests, offering them an exclusive preview of the island’s offerings.
Situated in the Red Sea, just five kilometers from NEOM’s coast in northwest Saudi Arabia, Sindalah spans 840,000 square meters. With a prime location only 17 hours by sea from Mediterranean hotspots, Sindalah is poised to serve as NEOM's gateway to the Red Sea, catering to yacht owners from Europe, Saudi Arabia, and the GCC.
Designed by yachting architecture firm Luca Dini, Sindalah merges natural beauty with advanced design and provides guests with a variety of high-end dining, lodging, and entertainment options.
By 2028, the island aims to welcome up to 2,400 visitors per day and create approximately 3,500 jobs, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s growing tourism industry and the Vision 2030 economic diversification goals.
Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, highlighted the significance of Sindalah's launch, stating, "NEOM is committed to supporting the Kingdom’s new era of luxury tourism with Sindalah’s opening, a gateway to the Red Sea made possible by the vision of His Royal Highness and Saudi Vision 2030. This marks a proud chapter in NEOM’s journey toward achieving its ambitious goals."
Sindalah’s marine environment is rich with biodiversity, housing over 1,100 fish species, including 45 exclusive to NEOM waters, along with more than 300 types of coral. Preservation efforts have been central to the island’s development, allowing guests to experience the marine habitat firsthand.
The island features an 86-berth marina and the Sindalah Yacht Club, with interiors by Stefano Ricci, offering a suite of yacht management services and facilities for super yachts.
Sindalah’s entertainment areas, including a Village and Promenade, host 38 dining options, luxury retail outlets, a Beach Club, and a beachfront Golf Club with an 18-hole course, offering a unique recreational experience.
Accommodation options will soon be available for booking, with choices across 440 rooms, 88 villas, and 218 luxury serviced apartments. Details for reservations will be announced through NEOM's tourism channels.
