The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully revived a dormant heavy oil well at the Rajian oil field in Punjab, marking a major milestone in the company's efforts to boost production.
The revival of the Rajian-3A well is part of OGDCL's broader strategy to enhance production from the field, which currently produces 1,500 bpd from four wells, a bourse filing noted.
With the optimization program underway, the company expects to increase the field's cumulative production to 2,500 bpd. as Rajian-3A was suspended since 2020 due to formation challenges.
However, through a comprehensive optimization plan, OGDCL's team of experts was able to revive the well, increasing its production to 1,000 barrels per day (BPD).
The successful revival of the Rajian-3A well demonstrates OGDCL's commitment to operational efficiency and its pivotal role in enhancing Pakistan's energy landscape. As the country's leading hydrocarbon explorer and producer, OGDCL continues to play a vital role in meeting Pakistan's growing energy demands.
The company's efforts to optimize production from the Rajian field are expected to have a significant impact on Pakistan's energy sector, and OGDCL's shareholders can expect to benefit from the increased production.
