Over 7,600 Du users report internet outages across UAE

Thousands of Du subscribers across the UAE faced internet disruptions on Saturday due to a technical issue in the telecom operator’s broadband network, affecting home internet, landlines, and streaming services.

According to Downdetector.ae, over 7,600 outage reports were recorded at 12:17 PM, with reports declining to 1,380 by 1:19 PM. The National also noted 7,440 complaints, with 70% of users experiencing home internet issues, 8% facing mobile signal loss, and 22% reporting a total service outage.

Dubai Marina resident Muhiddeen Kamleh told Khaleej Times that both his home internet and landline stopped working, and he was unable to contact Du’s helpline (155).

Meanwhile, Kevin Bautista, a Damac Hills 2 resident, said his streaming services on Netflix and YouTube suddenly disconnected at noon. “Then I realized our internet was the problem. It hasn't been working for over 40 minutes now,” he said.

On X (formerly Twitter), complaints flooded in, with the phrase "Du internet services disrupted in UAE" trending as frustrated users sought answers.

Du’s response and resolution

Du confirmed the issue in a statement on X, stating that its technical team was working to restore services. By 1:22 PM, Du announced that the problem had been resolved.

Etisalat also reports minor disruptions

During the same period, some Etisalat users also reported connectivity issues. Downdetector recorded 213 complaints between 11:47 AM and 1:17 PM, with 69% facing home internet issues, 27% experiencing mobile signal loss, and 4% reporting streaming disruptions.

While Du has not provided details on the cause of the disruption, both telecom providers have since restored normal service across the UAE.
