Pakistan said on Saturday that 'a few rudimentary drones' launched by the Afghan Taliban were successfully intercepted before reaching their intended targets, injuring at least four people, including two children.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the attacks resulted in injuries to two children in Quetta, a civilian in Kohat, and another individual in Rawalpindi. The military described the drone strikes as an attempt to sow fear among the civilian population.

“These attacks underscore the terrorist mindset driving the Afghan Taliban,” the ISPR said in a statement, adding that the group projects victimhood internationally while actively targeting civilians through drones and proxy militants.

The military reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces remain committed to defending civilians and countering terrorism. Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, launched to address threats originating from Afghan soil, will continue until the Taliban address Pakistan’s core security concerns.

A day earlier, the Information Ministry described the drones as “terrorist Fitna al-Khawarij assets nurtured by the Afghan Taliban regime” and confirmed they were neutralized without hitting military or critical infrastructure. Minor damage occurred only from debris caused by the forced crashes. Fitna al-Khawarij is the term used by the Pakistani state for Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned militant organization.

The Pakistani military emphasized its readiness to counter ongoing threats and said it would continue to act decisively against provocations from the Afghan Taliban.
