Pakistan's Ministry of Finance held an emergency meeting, calling for heightened vigilance, particularly regarding cybersecurity and communication systems, to mitigate potential risks in the current situation.

According to a statement on Wednesday, the meeting, chaired virtually by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, assessed the financial landscape in light of escalating regional tensions following recent Indian aggression.

Officials stressed the need to strengthen and maintain alternative strategies to ensure operational continuity, coordination, and secure communication links among financial institutions. Participants agreed to regularly review the evolving situation and reassure the business community through timely guidance.

The meeting also focused on financial market continuity and national economic security. Attendees included the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the finance secretary, and senior officials from the Finance Ministry.

A comprehensive review was conducted of the stock market, debt market, foreign exchange market, and interbank markets. Participants analyzed immediate risks and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring stability and protecting the country’s financial system.

Emphasizing market continuity and stability, the government resolved to ensure uninterrupted business activity across all financial and related sectors.

Officials expressed full confidence in taking all necessary measures to safeguard Pakistan’s economic framework and provide assurance to financial markets.

Aurangzeb stated that Pakistan’s financial system remains secure and stable, with all relevant institutions working closely to protect the national economy.
