Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Investment, Haroon Akhtar Khan, met with the CEO of Chinese tech manufacturer HYF to discuss the establishment of a laptop and tablet production facility in Pakistan, marking a potential milestone in the country’s bid to enter the global electronics manufacturing arena.

During the meeting, the two sides explored opportunities for local production of laptops, tablets, and biometric devices, aligning with Pakistan’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment and boost domestic technology manufacturing.

HYF, a Chinese company known for producing laptops, fingerprint recognition devices, and tablets, is reportedly considering setting up an assembly plant in Pakistan.

The meeting follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directive to provide full support and facilitation to Chinese investors.

“Chinese investors are the government’s top priority, and their investments will be fully protected,” said Khan.

He added that the government is working on introducing a Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy, which will also cover laptops and tablets—part of Prime Minister Sharif’s vision to expand Pakistan’s digital and industrial base.

Khan further noted that Pakistan has improved its visa policy to facilitate Chinese investors, with visit and business visas now being issued within 24 to 72 hours.

He also directed the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to extend full cooperation to HYF as talks progress.
