Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met China's vice minister of public security, Ling Zhifeng, at United Nations headquarters for high-level counterterrorism cooperation talks.
The two officials discussed security coordination, border management and their long-standing strategic partnership, according to details released after the meeting.
What did Pakistan and China agree on?
Pakistan and China agreed to deepen counterterrorism cooperation, focusing on internal security, border management, illegal immigration and anti-narcotics efforts.
Both sides stressed closer coordination on emerging security threats. Naqvi also called for blocking terrorist financing at every level, urging collective international action against countries that support or fund terrorist groups.
How is Pakistan protecting Chinese nationals?
Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to expanding security cooperation with China and outlined steps taken to safeguard Chinese citizens working in the country.
He said Pakistan has set up a Special Protection Police Force dedicated to securing Chinese nationals on Pakistani soil. The measure reflects continued concern over attacks targeting Chinese workers and projects in Pakistan in recent years.
What did China's vice minister say about Pakistan?
Ling praised Pakistan's sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism and said both countries should keep working closely to counter the threat.
He added that visa and immigration-related issues would be reviewed to support greater cooperation and exchanges. The remarks echoed China's broader public messaging on backing Pakistan's counterterrorism efforts.
Are Pakistan and China easing visa rules?
Naqvi emphasized the importance of stronger people-to-people contacts in deepening bilateral relations. He called for greater facilitation under the Pakistan-China visa regime to encourage exchanges between the two countries.
The meeting closed with both sides underscoring their shared commitment to a stronger strategic partnership through enhanced security cooperation and closer institutional coordination.
