In a major shift for the energy sector, Pakistan will launch its first competitive wholesale electricity market this year, where market forces, not generators, will set the rates.

For the initial five years, the market will operate with a capacity of 800 MW, with bidding for generator selection set to begin in just two months, Private Power & Infrastructure Board MD Shah Jahan Mirza revealed in an exclusive interview with Nukta.
