Pakistan will export 5,000 MG vehicles to Bangladesh under an agreement between MG Motors Pakistan and Bangladesh’s RANCON Motors, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries Haroon Akhtar Khan said on Thursday.
Speaking at a ceremony, Khan described the agreement as “another historic day” for Pakistan, saying the vehicle exports reflected the country’s growing manufacturing capabilities.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif envisions transforming Pakistan into a regional manufacturing hub by expanding industrial production and boosting exports.
Khan said 17 automobile companies are currently operating in Pakistan, highlighting the continued development of the country’s automotive sector.
He added that Pakistan plans to begin manufacturing electric vehicle batteries domestically as part of efforts to develop a local EV ecosystem.
The government is also working to localize the production of mobile phone components and expects solar panels to be manufactured in Pakistan in the near future, he said.
The initiatives are part of the government’s broader strategy to expand value-added manufacturing, reduce reliance on imports and increase exports through industrial diversification.
