Pakistan finalizes infrastructure, energy and technology projects under CPEC Phase-II
Key projects include technical support for the New Gwadar International Airport
Pakistan has finalized a list of over 70 projects for collaboration with China under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which reflects Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen economic ties with China.
According to the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, these projects span infrastructure, energy, trade, and technology sectors and will be presented to the Chinese prime minister next month.
Key projects include technical support for the New Gwadar International Airport, the second phase of the East Bay Expressway, and the realignment of the Karakoram Highway. The Main Line 1 (ML-1) railway project and the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) are also prioritized.
Energy projects such as the GEIP LNG terminal and the Suki Kinari Hydropower Station are also included, along with industrial initiatives like the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone. Science and technology collaborations include the China-Pakistan Earth Science Research Centre and joint labs for disaster prevention.
Livelihood and digital economy initiatives are also prominent, aiming to uplift communities and enhance digital infrastructure.
