Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf has concluded a high-level visit to the United States, where he met with senior American military and civilian officials to discuss regional security, professional training, and maritime cooperation, the military said on Friday.
During the visit, Admiral Ashraf held separate meetings with the U.S. Deputy Chief of Naval Operations and the Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard. Discussions focused on matters of professional interest, maritime collaboration, and security challenges in the region, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said in a statement.
The naval chief also visited the National Defense University (NDU) in Washington, where he met with the university’s president, Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin. The meeting centered on academic exchanges, strategic education, and strengthening defense ties through institutional collaboration.
In addition, Admiral Ashraf paid a visit to the U.S. Department of State and held talks with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Stanley L. Brown. The two sides discussed regional stability, defense cooperation, and ways to enhance coordination in maritime security operations.
Admiral Ashraf also addressed a gathering of American scholars and think tank experts, where he spoke about regional maritime security challenges and highlighted Pakistan Navy’s contributions to joint maritime efforts. He emphasized the importance of collaboration to ensure safe and secure seas amid evolving security threats in the Indian Ocean and beyond.
According to ISPR, the visit will further strengthen maritime security and defense cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
The Pakistan Navy has been expanding its international engagement in recent months as part of broader military diplomacy efforts led by Pakistan’s top military leadership.
Pakistan and the United States have witnessed a series of high-level defense interactions since Pakistan’s brief clashes with India in May 2025. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s army chief, has met with U.S. President Donald Trump three times since then, underscoring renewed strategic dialogue between the two nations.
In July, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu became the first serving Pakistan Air Force (PAF) chief in over a decade to undertake an official visit to the United States. His trip marked a milestone in restoring PAF’s engagement with U.S. defense counterparts.
