Pakistan navy says it test-fires indigenous Taimoor cruise missile

Officials say the test reflected growing operational readiness and improved precision strike capability in conventional warfare.

The Pakistan Navy said it successfully carried out a live weapon firing of the domestically developed Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile, describing the test as a step forward for the country’s maritime defense capabilities.

In a statement issued by the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations, or ISPR, the navy said the anti-ship missile system showed precision during the test.

It said the launch validated the navy’s ability to detect, track and engage sea-based targets at extended ranges.

Officials said the test reflected growing operational readiness and improved precision strike capability in conventional warfare.

The statement described the launch as an advance in strengthening Pakistan’s multi-dimensional and coordinated strike posture.

Pakistan has for years invested in locally developed defense systems as it seeks greater self-reliance in military technology.

The navy said the latest development also demonstrated the country’s commitment to protecting maritime interests and sovereign waters.

Following the test, Pakistan’s president, prime minister, chief of defense forces and service chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers involved, the statement said.
