PML-N wins nine of 13 seats in first phase of AJK election results

Voting was held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 27, 2026, in 13 constituencies across Mirpur division, covering the districts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won nine of the 13 constituencies with complete unofficial results in the first phase of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured the remaining four seats, according to results emerging Tuesday.

Polling was held in 13 constituencies across the districts of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber. Voting began at 8 a.m. and was scheduled to close at 5 p.m. The Chief Election Commissioner extended polling by one hour, until 6 p.m., before ballot counting began under security arrangements.

Which candidates won in the Mirpur constituencies?

In LA-1 Mirpur-I, PML-N's Azhar Sadiq won with 15,427 votes, defeating PPP's Muhammad Afsar Shahid, who received 9,832 votes. PPP's Qasim Majeed took LA-2 Mirpur-II with 12,904 votes against PML-N's Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry, who polled 8,182 votes. PPP's Chaudhry Yasir Sultan won LA-3 Mirpur-III with 11,676 votes over PML-N's Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, who secured 9,832 votes. In LA-4 Mirpur-IV, PML-N's Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed won with 20,172 votes, ahead of PPP's Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad, who received 13,865 votes.

What were the results in the Bhimber and Kotli constituencies?

PML-N's Chaudhry Tariq Farooq won LA-7 Bhimber-III with 35,490 votes, defeating independent candidate Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, who secured 25,100 votes. PPP's Zafar Iqbal Malik took LA-8 Kotli-I with 19,535 votes over PML-N's Malik Muhammad Nawaz Khan, who polled 11,966 votes. PML-N's Umair Naeem won LA-9 Kotli-II with 31,080 votes against PPP's Javed Iqbal Budhanvi, who received 28,509 votes. In LA-11 Kotli-IV, PML-N's Muhammad Asif secured 26,190 votes, ahead of PPP's Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq, who polled 21,751 votes. PML-N's Muhammad Riasat Khan won LA-12 Kotli-V with 35,168 votes over PPP's Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, who received 30,320 votes. In LA-13 Kotli-VI, PML-N's Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan won with 21,856 votes, defeating Nisar Ansar Abdali of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, who secured 15,859 votes.

Are these AJK election results official?

The results remain unofficial and provisional. They will not be final until the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir formally announces them.
