Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle plan to move back to the United Kingdom within weeks, according to British press reports.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will leave their California residence to settle in a private, non-royal property located outside London alongside their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Why are Prince Harry and Meghan relocating back to the UK?

The family plans to relocate to Britain six years after stepping down from official duties as senior working members of the royal family. Reporting from The Guardian confirms that Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have already been enrolled in a British school to start the academic year in September.

King Charles III was informed of the planned move, which follows a private reunion with his son and grandchildren at Highgrove. Royal officials noted that while the monarch welcomes the opportunity to see more of his family in a personal capacity, there will be no change to the couple's non-working royal status. ITV News reports that the Prince and Princess of Wales were also informed of the relocation.

The Sussexes are expected to retain their Montecito property in California, as well as a vacation residence in Portugal. The decision comes after extended discussions concerning security arrangements for family visits to the UK.

How does the return impact the royal family and media projects?

The move represents a significant transition following the couple's 2020 departure for North America. Since stepping back from official royal duties, the couple pursued independent commercial ventures, including a revised multi-year streaming agreement with Netflix.

In parallel developments, Earl Charles Spencer announced the upcoming publication of a personal memoir regarding his sister, Princess Diana. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously visited the Spencer family estate at Althorp to pay respects at Princess Diana's resting place during a private visit.
