The government of Qatar is fulfilling its pledge to support Pakistan’s flood recovery efforts by providing $11.9 million for the rehabilitation of flood-affected communities.
According to the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) website, the initiative will span 18 months and aims to provide safe, durable housing for affected families to support their long-term recovery. The effort is part of Qatar’s broader humanitarian commitment and aligns with the $25 million pledge made in 2023.
QFFD signed a grant agreement with Qatar Charity to fund the construction of houses and villages for flood-affected families in Pakistan.
“This agreement reflects the State of Qatar’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian assistance and sustainable recovery,” said Nouf Al-Kaabi, deputy director general of the development projects sector at QFFD. “By providing secure housing, we aim to restore stability and security to those impacted by the devastating floods in Pakistan.”
Nawaf Abdulla Al-Hammadi, chief global programs officer at Qatar Charity, emphasized the broader impact of the initiative.
“At Qatar Charity, we are proud to partner with QFFD in this vital initiative to support flood-affected communities in Pakistan,” he said. “This project goes beyond providing shelter; it is about restoring dignity, stability and hope to the affected families.”
